VINELAND, NJ—Main Street Vineland is again planning two downtown major events for the Halloween season—a month-long Scarecrow Challenge on The Ave contest and a Pumpkin Patch Party on Saturday, October 29.
The Scarecrow Challenge on The Ave is returning this year, again in partnership with the Vineland Board of Education. All Vineland public and private schools, as well as local clubs and organizations are invited to design scarecrows. The scarecrows, situated on frames, will be mounted on downtown lampposts on Landis Avenue. Some lampposts will be decorated with corn stalks.

“Dine on The Ave” will show off the rich variety of cuisines available in downtown Vineland from various ethnic cultures.
“The choice you have in the variety of cultures represented in our downtown restaurants and eateries in our downtown—10 different ethnicities— is truly amazing,” said Main Street Vineland Executive Director Russell Swanson. “Within just a few blocks, we have a true cultural melting pot of cuisines that you can discover and which has been an attraction of The Ave.”

Full Day of Great Food, Entertainment, and Activities
Food truck festivals are all the rage these days. They have them in Hammonton, Sea Isle City, North Wildwood and in a growing number of places near and far. They’re popular because the food trucks bring a wide variety of good food—and the whole atmosphere and ambiance is festive.
Well, you won’t have to travel far to enjoy one of these events because I’m proud to announce the first annual Food Truck Festival on The Ave coming right to downtown Vineland on Sunday, August 6. That’s right! It’ll be at Landis Avenue and the Boulevard, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and, in the words of a legendary television personality of the past, it’ll be” r-r-r-r-r-really big!”
This mega-event, sponsored by Newfield National Bank, is really going to sizzle. You’ll want to come hungry for some absolutely tremendous food but, aside from the food and the beer, we’ll have non-stop entertainment and activities throughout the eight hours.
Downtown Vineland unveiled our new brand, The Ave, to a crowd of over 200 at the Landis Theater on October 20. Part of the fun was grabbing a selfie with the new logo so they could be shared on social media. Check out some of the photos here, and read more about the launch here.
If you missed the launch, come by our office one day soon to get your own selfie, and be sure to tag it #theavevld when you share it on social media.
Wsdnwsday, October 26th, 6-9pm at the Mini-Park at Greenview Inn.
Enjoy an evening sampling signature dishes from some of the Vineland area's best restaurants and eateries, hosted by the Vineland Downtown Improvement District/Main Street Vineland. Bring a friend, or better yet, reserve a table of ten (must purchase all ten tickets) for even more fun.
This is our annual signature fundraising event at which we will honor our valued Main Street Vineland volunteers. Thanks to our major sponsor, Century Savings Bank. Buy Tickets now!
Vineland Public Schools partnered with the Vineland Downtown Improvement District to sponsor a scarecrow contest.
Twenty-seven scarecrows created by public, private, parochial and charter schools, and the Woman's Club of Vineland, are now “standing guard” along Landis Avenue between Myrtle Street and the Boulevard. The themes for the entries run the gamut from classic to a whale to Einstein to Harry Potter to Ninja Turtle to Maleficent.
Community members are invited take a stroll along the Avenue to view the scarecrows and vote for their favorite. Votes may be cast via anonymous paper ballots or online. In case you can't get to the Avenue to see the scarecrows, photographs of the entries are available on the online ballot.
Main Street Vineland will be formally launching the rebranding of downtown Vineland for the future at a gala launching party on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Landis Theater, 830 E. Landis Ave.
This free event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., will be a high-energy, high-impact event which will result in a new logo and new image for Landis Avenue and the downtown. The major sponsor for the event is Premier Orthopaedic Associates, with Capital Bank of New Jersey as the reception and networking sponsor.
Soon after the formal launch, the new logo and brand will appear on new banners, signs on both ends of the downtown, on a new sculpture to be designed, new letterhead, business cards, a newly-designed website, and other items.
From time to time, someone will ask me, “What is Main Street?”
They know of Main Road. They know that Landis Avenue is the main street of Vineland. They know that Millville has a main artery named Main Street. But where’s Main Street in Vineland?
“Main Street,” in the way that it is used in “Main Street Vineland” isn’t the name of a specific street. It’s the name of a national program that is part of the National Main Street Center, which, in turn, is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It has been in existence on a national scale for over 35 years.
