It’s getting to be that time of year—pumpkins, jack-o’-lanterns, costumes, trick-or-great, cider. When fall is in the air, it gets to be Halloween time and in downtown Vineland, that means our annual Pumpkin Patch Party on The Ave, as well as our Scarecrow Contest, sponsored by Tents for Rent & Party Supply and Huffman Farms & Greenhouses.
This year, the Pumpkin Patch Party will be on Saturday, October 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the SW mini-park, Landis Avenue and the Boulevard. Now in its ninth year, it’s an event that attracts 150 children and parents for a few hours of good, clean, wholesome holiday fun, games, and fellowship. We’ll have music and fun with DJ Tony from Gambino Entertainment, pumpkin painting, trunk-or-treat and candy for children age 14 and under.
Fun for all ages!! The event also serves to make the mini-park a destination and a focal point on The Ave.. Be sure to take a selfie in front of the Embracing Peace sculpture in front of the military mural when you are there.
We are happy to announce that we’ll be bringing back our Scarecrow Contest once again this year in partnership with the Vineland Board of Education. Students will be making scarecrows to decorate our downtown and the public will be able to vote for their favorites online. Winners will receive AVE BUCKS gift certificates which may be spent at any of our Main Street Vineland businesses. Special thanks to Mr. Ross Stanger and Mrs. Rossini Solerno from the BOE in their assistance in getting the schools involved.
Be sure to visit our downtown this fall and see not only the Scarecrows, but our other fall decorations. Our mini parks will be decorated with hay bales, corn stalks, pumpkins and mums, all courtesy of Huffman Farms. Our fall banners will also help to get you in the autumn mood, as you visit our downtown restaurants and businesses.
