Business owner, community volunteer, police officer are all words that describe our very own Richard (Ricky) Dixon. We are thrilled to have had Ricky join our board of directors in 2021 and continue his spirit of giving back to our community.
He moved to Vineland in 1984 with his wife and started a family here. During this time, Ricky was employed as a police officer for the State of New Jersey where he served to protect the employees, residents and property of the Vineland Developmental Center. He also served the New Jersey Veterans Home and the Vineland Children Residential Center as a police officer.
During his years in Vineland, he has been active with the Vineland Recreation Baseball League and has attended the Chestnut Assembly of God as a Royal Rangers Commander.
In 2005, along with his daughter, he opened the Dixon Dance Academy in Vineland in an effort to keep children in our county busy with a positive, exciting place to attend, and it is still active and operating today.
Children from those early years now have their own children attending dance classes there. The Dance Academy has performed several yearly dance recitals at the Landis Theater and also performed there at numerous Miss Vineland pageants.
Ricky enjoys working part-time for the Flower Shoppe in Vineland and the Vineland School Security Department. Dixon states, “My love for Vineland and the Vineland Downtown Improvement District/Main Street Vineland is both exciting and a learning experience for me and my family. I am excited and looking forward to this upcoming year in serving Vineland.”
